"Diesel mechanics posses the know how to maintain, repair and service diesel engines, which are used to run a variety of vehicles, such as cars, buses, trucks, trains, ships and agricultural and construction equipment.If you enjoy working with automobiles - particularly with engines and have a strong mechanical engineering background, a job as a diesel mechanic might be perfect for you. These mechanics sometimes specialize in certain parts of the engine or in certain functions that are carried out on the engine, for example, turbochargers, cylinders, ignition systems etc. Some work at companies while others establish their own business.

Job tasks usually include:
1) Analyzing problems with engines and rectifying the same.
2) Carrying out routine service on the engine, including oil and filter changes.
3) Repairing or replacing faulty parts and systems.
4) Sometimes integrating new technology into the engine structure.
5) Conducting performance tests on vehicle fleets, if overseeing their operation.
6) Welding and cutting material if required, using arc welding or flame cutting equipment.

Diesel Mechanic Knowledge and Skills:
1) In depth understanding of diesel engines, as well as mechanics and engineering in general.
2) Good analytical and problem solving skills to find the source of problems / malfunctions and rectify the same.
3) Ability to work with hand tools, precision and other equipment.
4) Computer skills, as several diagnostic procedures and precision repairs may be carried out with the aid of computers.

Diesel Mechanic Educational Qualifications and Experience:
1) A high school diploma will usually suffice, as most of the learning is done one the job, but some large organizations may require a degree in mechanical engineering.
2) Entry level positions are available but other positions require a minimum of 3 – 5 years."

I am having a diesel Mitsubishi Car model. I have it from last two years, nut never got any problem from it, but these days it’s getting some engine starting problem. So Please suggest me a proper diesel mechanic.
