Responsibilities:
- Take a project from concept to completion;
- Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure a good working interface;
- Collaborate with project team to determine and achieve project objectives;
- Participate in regular project meetings;
- Plan, organize and supervise the function of a particular project and develop the project team requirements;
- Provide appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team;
- Provide cost estimates in small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines;
- Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans; and
- Perform other duties as required.
- Proven ability to provide sound technical advice and constructive opposition to the project engineering lead is essential. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also work closely with other engineers, designers and drafters to deliver timely and technically sound results to and in conjunction with the engineering lead.
- Ideally you are solutions driven and manage yourself and others well. You must also have a proven ability to generate and foster client relationships while working in a fast paced and competitive business environment. Demonstrated ability to create and direct effective teams and to mentor and develop team members is essential.
Requirements:
- 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience specializing in low to medium voltage systems;
- Working knowledge of detailed design project (EPC and EPCM) execution for oil, gas, chemical and/or power industry clients;
- P.Eng. or applicant with APEGGA;
- Experience assisting project engineering leads and managers in project design and execution to meet client schedules;
- Experience in integration design of transformers, switchgears, MCCs, protection relays, motors, generators, transmission and distribution equipment;
- Knowledge of all federal/provincial safety policies and procedures and knowledge and understanding and application of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC);
- Proficient with MS Office software and various engineering software programs; and
- Adept at writing technical reports and scopes of work.
